JO-EARTH MENACE-Moi University
Many of you are not conversant with this group. Only a few do. It can be called a tribal group full of opinion rather than facts. Jo-earth is a Luo phrase meaning people or owners of earth! The question is; who do they own? Do they own Moi University Main Campus? Absolutely no! They had a notion that they spoke for all but only came to realize that Mutahi Ngunyi was really a prophet. It was later revealed to them that numbers speak rather than words. It’s even real that human being mind numbers and figures than letters. Their central area was at the front of student Centre: the jobless corner.
As one of them revealed to me, their major absolute duty was to give opinions to several aspirants who majorly were associated to them. The worst about it was that these same aspirants believed in whatever they said. They even went ahead to mis-advised some of the aspirants to step down in favor of others who were their preferred choice of candidates.  Have you ever wondered why some aspirants stepped down? The answers lies with Jo-earth. One of the phrases commonly used by this group was, ‘omera ground ber’ or ‘omera ground rach’ meaning ground is good, man or ground is bad, man.
This simply showed that they could go to the extent of gauging views of people towards specific candidates. Some of you who might have logged into the real Comrade Facebook page, an aspirant really showed his emotions towards the group.  He blamed the group for killing his dream to represent the comrades. He said that the group really humiliated him forcing him to step down. The group saw him as a spoiler who was going to divide votes which were already in their bucket.
It is to my opinion that groups should not be formed in terms of tribal lines. Moi University is an expansive institution full with representation of students from various tribes. This is not only in Kenya but even from other countries. We should form groups which are inclusive of all people of all tribes. Tribal groups should end in the respective regional associations. Personally, I am not represented by that group. It is a dubious group of people full of mediocrity and malice. Such a group is one of the causes of tribal alienation in this campus. It is in the recent election that saw comrades divided alongside their tribe causing hatred and animosity.
Jo-earth should really desist from such behavior in the future. It to our unity and peace in the campus if really the group will refrain from further meeting and discussion.
